Alfredo’s love for music began at an early age. He grew up in El Paso Texas where traditional Mexican, Blues, Country and Rock and Roll filled the local radio stations. “I remember listening to a lot of Elton John, Motown, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Rush, Aerosmith, or whatever my mom and dad were listening to, and from there I was hooked.”

His musical training began when he joined the elementary school orchestra playing the cello and later switching to the viola. Years later he would play the drums and timpani in the junior high school band. After graduating from high school he joined his first group playing bass guitar and performing on the local club circuit. A year later he left El Paso and move to Los Angeles where he enrolled at the Musicians Institute for a summer program studying harmony and theory and listening to inspiring bass players such as Jaco Pastorius, Bootsy Collins, James Jamerson, among others. After returning to Texas, Alfredo continued to perform with local Rock, Blues, Funk, Country, and Gospel groups for the next few years.

In 1999 he relocated to Boston and enrolled at world renowned Berklee College of Music where he had the opportunity to study Jazz and Classical bass with an amazing group of talented faculty and students. The experience changed his life and in 2003 he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Professional Music and has recently completed his Masters of Education degree from Cambridge College.

Since graduating he has kept busy schedule as a performing, recording, and teaching throughout New England, New York, Texas and Virginia with various artists. He recently wrote and filmed 25 Bass lessons for the “Absolute Beginner Bass Player” which are available on the amazing online music educational site www.workshoplive.com. He is a member of the bass faculty for the National Guitar Workshop as well as the Berklee College of Music Guitar Summer Sessions.
